Community Celebration: Join the Optimist Kids 5K Walk/Run

Instructions

An exciting community event is set to take place at Purgatory Creek Park, bringing together participants of all ages for a morning of fitness and fun. On Saturday, June 28, the Eden Prairie Optimist Club will organize its 11th annual 5K Walk/Run, encouraging residents to engage in healthy activities while supporting local youth initiatives. Funds raised from this vibrant event will be channeled into various programs aimed at nurturing young talent, such as scholarships, appreciation awards, and vocal competitions.

Participants have the opportunity to enjoy special pricing by registering early via an online platform, with additional discounts available for group entries. Following the race, Hackamore Brewing Company will host a lively celebration, offering complimentary drink tokens to runners, including non-alcoholic options. This year's event also features a musical performance by Sadie Maguire, a talented student from PiM Arts High School, who will captivate the audience with her rendition of the national anthem before the race begins. An awards ceremony will follow, recognizing top performers across different age groups and distributing door prizes.

The success of this annual gathering owes much to the unwavering support of volunteers and sponsors, according to Karla Wennerstrom, a leading volunteer and recipient of the "Optimist of the Year" award for 2024-25. Such events not only foster a sense of unity but also demonstrate the community's commitment to empowering the younger generation. By coming together, residents create an inspiring environment that highlights belief in the potential of every individual, proving that collective effort can lead to meaningful change and growth within the community.
