Instructions

Volunteerism and community support are vital in addressing local challenges. Today, more than 450 employees from Food Lion joined forces to contribute their time at the food bank serving Central and Eastern North Carolina. At the Greenville site, staff members enthusiastically engaged in preparing vegetables such as carrots and turnips for distribution to those facing hunger. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to tackling the pressing issue of food insecurity in the region.

The impact of food insecurity has intensified in Greenville, with recent figures indicating over 61,000 individuals affected—an increase of 9,300 compared to the previous year. During this event, volunteers efficiently organized over 21,000 pounds of meals, equating to nearly 18,000 servings. Turner Thompson, the Greenville area’s director of operations at Food Lion, expressed pride in the enthusiasm of the team. Employees eagerly anticipate future opportunities to participate, driven by personal connections to the cause and a desire to assist those in need.

Food Lion's longstanding partnership with the food bank exemplifies how consistent collaboration can create meaningful change. For over three decades, the organization has supported efforts ranging from financial contributions to hands-on events like packing food for distribution. Such actions underscore the importance of uniting resources and dedication to uplift communities and ensure no one goes hungry. Through these collective endeavors, hope and resilience flourish, inspiring others to join in making a difference.
