This gives visitors a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations of the zoo and the care that goes into keeping its animals healthy. Free Winter Break Fun for Kids
If you have bored kids looking for something to do this winter break, consider taking them to the Denver Zoo. From December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024, kids under 15 years old can enjoy free admission every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults ages 16 to 54 still pay $15.75, and seniors get in for $13.65.
While the zoo is open during the evenings for Zoo Lights through January 5, 2024, that comes with an extra cost. Zoo Lights tickets cost $18 for kids 3-15 and $25 for anyone older than that. Kids 2 and under get in free.
A Glimpse of 2,500 Animals
Your family can get a close-up view of 2,500 animals across 450 species at the Denver Zoo. From the red river hogs to the penguins, there's a wide variety of animals to see. Each species has its own unique characteristics and behaviors, making it a truly immersive experience.
Not only can you wander and gaze at the animals, but the zoo also offers daily animal demonstrations and talks by staffers. Denver Zoo 101
The 80-acre Denver Zoo, located in City Park, has a rich history. It has been around for more than 125 years and launched with a single bear for entertainment. Since 1996, the zoo has become an international force in conservation, working on more than 600 projects in 62 countries across six continents.
