Instructions

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has recently sparked excitement among gamers with hints about the company's upcoming projects. However, it's important to note that there are no plans for an Elden Ring 2 at the moment.

Game Awards and Beyond

After winning the Grand Award at the 2024 PlayStation Partner Awards in Japan, Miyazaki took the time to speak with Game Watch. In this interview, he revealed that the studio is not currently considering the development of a sequel to Elden Ring, which won Game of the Year at TGA 2022. As he stated, "At this point, we are not thinking of developing “Elden Ring 2″ or anything like that." But this doesn't mean the Elden Ring IP is being neglected. FromSoftware is constantly working on multiple projects, as is their usual practice. There are various directions and variations within these projects, and fans can look forward to seeing the results.

Multiple Projects in the Works

Following the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, a highly nominated expansion for Game of the Year at this year's Game Awards, FromSoftware is indeed developing multiple games. Miyazaki added that there are title(s) directed by him and also those directed by others within the studio. This diverse range of projects allows for a new and exciting FromSoftware experience in different ways. It shows the studio's commitment to innovation and exploration.

Reviving Older Franchises

It's fascinating to hear Miyazaki mention working on games in different genres. After the success of Elden Ring in 2022, FromSoftware released Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, a mech-combat game. This indicates that the Japanese developer may be looking to revive its older franchises in a similar manner. Could it be time to bring back King's Field? The possibilities are intriguing, and fans are eager to see what the future holds.Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
