In another instance, a trio suspected of smuggling counterfeit cash into the nation were apprehended while trying to exchange it for foreign currencies via currency exchange establishments.

Further operations have resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old visitor at an airport carrying fake foreign banknotes valued at Dhs185,000. Simultaneously, federal investigators identified and detained an Arab group holding counterfeit foreign currency worth $7.5 million intended for circulation within the country. These achievements underscore the collaborative efforts between Dubai Police and financial institutions, which remain crucial in countering advanced forgery methods employed by criminal networks.

Emphasizing the cutting-edge technology utilized in combating counterfeiting, Colonel Dr Ali Khalifa Al Falasi highlighted that specialized tools, such as advanced spectrum devices and digital microscopes, play a pivotal role in identifying counterfeit activities. Public cooperation is also vital in strengthening these efforts. Lawyer Badr Abdullah Khamis reiterated the severity of penalties under Article 204 of the Federal Penal Code, which includes life imprisonment or hefty fines for those involved in counterfeiting or knowingly handling forged currency. Such stringent measures not only deter criminals but also reinforce public trust in the financial system, promoting economic stability and integrity across the region.
